In later episodes we see that the alternate universe is more advanced and many people use earrings instead of handys. In this episode we dont see any of them in the alternate universe and when Liv crossed over to learn about the twin sister we can clearly see a phone just as in our universe, just another color. And they used paper in this episode (Olivia checked the alternate Fringes report about the twin sisters to gather information about the case) Also the other fringe team is not surprised by Olivias haircolor. Further they are currently working at the same case with Pyrokinesis, but Cortexiphan shouldnt exist in their universe... Correct me if im wrong SG-27 (talk) (contribs) 22:07, March 17, 2012 (UTC)
I noticed this as well, however I can only offer a partial explanation. The earrings may not have been in wide circulation yet. Perhaps they became standard issue to Fringe agents after this time on the other side. As I recall, the event Olivia witnessed on the other side was the closing of the FBI, as Fringe Division was becoming its own agency, which is why everyone is carrying around boxes: these were the old records that were being moved (and probably digitized). Perhaps one reason the FBI was being shut down was becuase it was physically antiquated, being behind the times with technology, and that is why they were using paper reports. They just didn't have the budget for fancy computer pads. Fauxlivia had not yet dyed her hair red at this juncture, which is why nowone commented on Olivia having blond hair. The Pyrokinesis case however is more baffling. I can think of only two possibilities, as we know Walternate never created cortexiphan. Either William Bell continued the cortexiphan experiements after he fled to the alternate universe, and experimented on some of the same children that he had in the primary one, including the twins, and that is why they developed the same powers. Or, during the original cortexiphan trials, the trials that Olivia does not remember, Walter and Bell used Olivia's ability to cross over as a child to experiment on some of the same child participants on the other side, to see if the same results would occur. When the trials ended, the experiment stopped. However Walter's brain damage and Olivia's repressed memories mean that they had both forgotten about this. What do you think?
As a response to the person who wrote above me.In the alternate universe the FBI ceased to exist a decade ago.The alternate Broyles explains this to prime universe Olivia in season's 3 episode the candyman.I simply think that the writers didn't think that far ahead yet about the alternate universe and its details on how it would be when they wrote this episode.
