Rebecca Kibner was an experimental subject of Walter Bishop who had an ability to see into the other Universe. As a teenager, she willingly subjected herself to hallucinogenics administered by Walter, which allowed her to see another universe. She was able to describe soldiers who could shape-shift, a.k.a. The Shape-shifters; however, after the experiment, her ability remained dormant.("A New Day In The Old Town")
She was aproached by Walter and Peter Bishop many years after her first encounter with Walter and agreed to undergo the same experiment to identify a Shape-Shifter. After the experiment, she kissed Walter on her doorstep, implying that she was more than just a test subject. Rebecca also appeared to be aware that Peter was from the other universe, but did not say so. ("Momentum Deferred")
Trivia[]
- Rebecca Kibner's last name and her connection to the Shape-shifter may be a reference to the 1978 remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" , in which there is a character named Dr. David Kibner. Dr. Kibner is interestingly played by William Bell actor, Leonard Nimoy. The film focuses on shape-shifting aliens that perfectly duplicate humans albeit lacking emotions.
