The Second Season of FRINGE follows the FBI’s Fringe Division, formed when Special Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) enlisted the help of institutionalized “fringe” scientist Walter Bishop (John Noble) and his son, Peter (Joshua Jackson), to save her partner and lover from a mind-bending death, continues to investigate unbelievable events, macabre crimes and mystifying cases involving teleportation, reanimation, genetic mutation, precognition, artificial intelligence and other fantastical theories.


Agent Phillip Broyles (Lance Reddick) guides the group, while by-the-book Agent Charlie Francis (Kirk Acevedo) and Junior Agent Astrid Farnsworth (Jasika Nicole) provide support. Underscoring the unfolding mysteries, enigmatic Massive Dynamic executive Nina Sharp (Blair Brown) asserts that the advancement of technology is changing the world as we know it.

In the shocking Season One finale, Olivia’s anticipated introduction to Walter Bishop’s former lab partner and Massive Dynamic founder William Bell (guest star Leonard Nimoy) revealed the existence of a parallel universe and the ability to travel between the two worlds. This new universe has a different, intriguing history and holds secrets of its own.

Each episode of the sophomore season promises to uncover more about the larger threat and while some questions will be answered, new ones will surface. The intensity accelerates as Season Two opens with Olivia’s shocking return to this reality, and a determined Peter, unwittingly in a race against time with an ominous mobile force, seeks to uncover the truth about Olivia’s perplexing visit to the alternate universe. Meanwhile, Walter reenters the lab to cook up a bit of fringe science.

Olivia asks for guidance from Sam Weiss at the bowling alley before joining the Fringe team in their investigation of a businessman in Seattle who attacked his boss spontaneously for no apparent reason and has been unconscious for 16 hours since. The Fringe Division is flummoxed by a case where victims are inexplicably disintegrated into ash. Agent Broyles takes a particular interest in the case, as it is revealed that he worked on this case in the past, and had been so involved that it cost him his marriage. He says that everyone who died had recently been to a hospital. Tyler Carson, the son of a Massive Dynamic employee, is kidnapped and taken hostage in New York. When the police close in and try to rescue Tyler, something causes them to kill one another. Walter posits that one of the kidnappers is using hypnotism to cause people to do what he wants. Peter reminds him that hypnotism can't force action, only suggest it, so Walter suggests mind control.
